Hi , bought a belter 20 for my 5yo daughter after she was confident enough for a bigger model
A bit ‘wobbly’ at first and a bit uneasy with a new brake system but after two rides she is already adapted and enjoying every minute on her new bike
The handling is so easy because of the lightweight
frame and suitable on practical all terrains with the bigger tyres

Na ja, der Drehschaltgriff ist zu hart, wenn man in den leichteren Gang schalten möchte (z.B vom Gang 2 zu Gang 1). Das macht es fast unmöglich für ein 6- jähriges Kind - besonders beim Berg hochfahren.
Mein Sohn fährt seit er 3 ist, sehr gerne Fahrrad und zwar sehr gut und ziemlich anspruchsvoll und er ist ein starkes Kind. Er hatte davor das Belter 16 und wir waren mega zufrieden, leider ist der Drehschaltgriff bei dem Belter 20 zu hart. Sonst ist es ein sehr tolles Fahrrad.
Es wäre grandios eine Lösung dafür zu finden.

My 6 years old daughter has been ridden this bike for 3 months now. She loves the bike, it is easy to ride. However the shifting mecanism is really stiff to shift lighter gear. She has to use both hands to shift lighter gear. This means that she has to stop first and then twist the gearhandle.
Othervise the bike is really good.

We have had 3 early riders for 3 kids and have been satisfied overall. Especially the built quality is high. Besides the overall known fact that the gear shifting on the belter 20 is almost impossible for kids, the rear hub now broke (3 years after purchase). Its out of warranty and it seems impossible to get spare parts in Germany. I ended up using ChatGPT to ask for alternatives (to the mounted RFRX4 rear hub) and got myself a RXRF5 rear hub from the same manufactures, Sturmey Archer. Turns out, its not compatible. Very disappointing and not sustainable.

This ist not the first earlyrider bike we bought.
The first one was 16“ version and it was really best bike for the kids I ever seen. Exactly that’s why I ordered next one when 16“ been too small.
And I can say, that the experience is terrible.
The grips are slipping from handlebar, but the biggest issue is the gear switching system. My daughter simply can‘t change the gear during the ride. The gears can be switched only with both hands because of very high tension. So I can’t recommend this bike to anybody.

Das Fahrrad selbst ist toll. Leider ist es mit schmutzigen Reifen und mit einem

We bought the Early Rider Belter 20" for our daughter and were initially very impressed. The build quality is excellent, it's lightweight, and the design is beautiful — exactly what you'd expect at this price point.
Unfortunately, the gearing system is a major letdown. The amount of force required to shift gears is far too high for a child. Our daughter simply cannot change gears on her own, which defeats the purpose of having a geared bike entirely. It’s incredibly frustrating, especially since the rest of the bike is so well designed.
We expected better ergonomics and usability from a brand that claims to make high-end children’s bikes. Until the shifting system is redesigned or improved, we can’t recommend this bike. It’s a great concept that fails in practice.
